Welcome

One of the most difficult aspects of teaching is writing and recognizing good assessments. The following tutorial will guide you through the dos and don'ts of formal (paper-and-pencil) assessment writing including tips on Writing Objectives as well as True/False, Matching, Multiple Choice, Short Answer, Essay, and Context-dependent questions.

You may choose to focus on one particular type of question by using the navigation at left or walk step-by-step through the entire tutorial by using the navigation below.

By the end of the tutorial you should be able to:

Identify common mistakes made in assessment creation,

Recognize and correct faulty assessment questions, and

Write quality assessment items of your own.
