Although the research and theory behind the constructivist philosophy could fill volumes, just by reading a few pages you have made a good start on understanding how to involve your students in activities that will help them become more capable, self-motivated learners.

Although it may, initially, be more difficult to plan lessons and structure activites that require a great deal of student involment, you will find that the rewards are worth the effort and that your students are more capable of directing their own learning than you had imagined.
